Reference letter concerning Joaquim Fanton
Rio de Janeiro, May 9, 2001.
Mister Fanton worked for Vesper, under my responsability, from June 1999 to May 2001. As senior manager, he supervised a team of about twenty managers and non-managers responsible to design the transmission network and the outside plant local fiber network.
During this assignment, Mr. Fanton was responsible to interview and select the brazilian engineers, supervise their work, develop their training program and provide the required coaching. He was also responsible to deal with the brazilian authorities to get the rights to build the network and to coordinate the activities of the different suppliers.
At his arrival, Mr. Fanton was part of the team who built Vesper, before the Company started his operation. He was very dedicated and professional; he strongly contributed in the achievement of meeting Anatel committment to have Vesper in operation for January 2000.
All along his assignment, he acted as an excellent counsellor for me and the whole engineering team. He helped me to better understand the brazilian mentality and the way to gain efficiency in negociation with the authorities.
He is also a very fine negociator. He was regularly required by the sales people to help solving major issues in the process of acquiring right of ways to install the telecommunication equipment on private property.
In summary, Mr. Fanton, with his huge knowledge of telecommunication business and his numerous personal skills was an important asset for my team and for the whole Vesper Company.
I strongly recommend him as an excellent candidate to achieve a Senior Manager or even a Director position in a telecommunication enterprise.
